Office Administrative Maternity Leave Position

PEI Mutual Insurance Company, Prince Edward Island’s largest property and casualty insurer, has an opening for a full-time Administrative staff person at its head office location in Summerside, PEI. This is a one year maternity leave position.

Job Description:
As part of our Records Department, you will provide a wide range of administrative and office support duties for various departments in the operation. Job tasks will include: answer policyholder inquiries and transfer inbound phone calls; accounts receivable; maintain electronic and hard copy filing system; and other general administrative functions specific to the insurance industry, as required.

Qualifications for Applicants:

  • An Office Administration diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Access)
  • Excellent knowledge of general office procedures and office equipment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in Accounts Receivable is an asset
  • Team-oriented; highly motivated; and professional in appearance

Service Position - Field Claims Adjuster

Position Overview: Reporting to the Claims Manager and serving as a member of the Claims Team, this position provides the opportunity to assess and settle claims in a fair and efficient manner.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide consistently high level of service to member policyholders;
  • Deliver consistent, fair and prompt settlement of claims;
  • Prepare and maintain accurate reports and effect settlements;
  • Adjust both property damage and legal liability claims;
  • Recommend and maintain proper reserves;
  • Effectively identify and pursue subjugation;
  • Keep current on industry trends, and best practices.
Personal Characteristics:
  • Post-Secondary education or Chartered Insurance Professional designation are considered assets;
  • Interested in pursuing mandatory and other educational opportunities;
  • Self-starter. Detail oriented, well organized and decisive with strong analytical and negotiation skills;

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide a high level of personalized service to fit our members’ needs
  • Proactively manage new and existing member coverage
  • Build trusting relationships with our members, staff and community stakeholders
  • Visit members’ properties and conduct periodic policy reviews to ensure offerings are up to date
  • Maintain and submit accurate and timely reports
