Special Mutual Rebate - Mutuality at its Best!

Your cheque is in the mail! Policyholders of PEI Mutual share a special relationship as Members of the Company. The Members of PEI Mutual have been protecting each other since 1885. Since that time we have welcomed Islanders to join in our values of shared protection, loss prevention and financial success.

Our company is a true Mutual. In years where financial results allow, our Members receive Mutual Rebates in the form of reduced annual premiums. In exceptional years our Members have received Special Mutual Rebates in the form of a cheque.

2020 was a challenging year in many ways; however, our Members' shared financial experience was very positive. As a result, our Board of Directors has declared Mutual Rebates totaling over $7,500,000. This means that our Members as of December 31st, 2020 will be receiving:

  • 15% of your 2020 premium paid to you by cheque totaling $4,500,000; and
  • 10% of your 2021 premium which will be deducted from your renewal invoice totaling $3,000,000.
With our Head Office on Prince Edward Island, we make decisions locally for our policyholders. Our Board of Directors ensures that we maintain fair pricing and makes adjustments through Mutual Rebates when conditions permit. Mutual Rebates have been returned to our members in 31 of the last 37 years amounting to approximately $54,000,000.

Administrative Support Clerk Position

PEI Mutual Insurance Company, Prince Edward Island's largest property and casualty insurer, has an opening for a full-time Administrative staff person at its head office location in Summerside, PEI.

Job Description:
As part of our Records Department, you will provide a wide range of administrative and office support duties for various departments in the operation. Job tasks will include: answer policyholder inquiries and transfer inbound phone calls; accounts receivable; process outgoing mail; maintain electronic and hard copy filing system; and other general administrative functions specific to the insurance industry, as required.

Qualifications for Applicants:

  • An Office Administration diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel & Access)
  • Excellent knowledge of general office procedures & office equipment

NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETINGS of the PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND MUTUAL INSURANCE COMPANY

The Annual Meetings of the Members of the Prince Edward Island Mutual Insurance Company for the 2019 and 2020 years will be consecutively held at The Oval, above Red Shores at Summerside Raceway, 55 Greenwood Drive, Summerside, PEI on the 13th day of April, 2021, beginning at 2:00 p.m.

The purpose of the meetings is to receive the financial statements and the auditor's report for 2019 and 2020; to elect directors; to appoint auditors; amend the bylaws to modernize and reflect current practices and to transact business of the postponed 2019 and the 2020 Annual Meetings.

COVID-19 Public Health measures will be observed for the Annual Meetings. To ensure safety, attendees are to pre-register by contacting head office at 1-800-565-5441 by April 6, 2021. Please check our website, www.peimutual.com for updates in case Public Health considerations require postponement of the Annual Meetings.

Head Office Service Agent Position

PEI Mutual Insurance Company asks you to consider joining us in providing excellence in member service as an Agent at our Head Office. Founded over 135 years ago, with its roots in our Island's primary resources, PEI Mutual is the largest property and casualty insurer on PEI.

Responsibilities: This Service Agent position will work collaboratively as a support to our Field Agents and Head Office Staff under the guidance of the Underwriting Manager:

  • Providing insurance coverage advice to member / policyholders
  • Arranging changes to insurance policies
  • Arranging policy communication
  • Assisting with field agent reports and policy information
