PEI Mutual Announces Craig Noonan as new CEO

6/9/2022

On behalf of the CEO Hiring Committee and PEI Mutual's Board of Directors, I am excited to announce the appointment of Craig Noonan to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective Monday, June 20, 2022.

Craig lives in Summerside with his wife, Kristin, and their 2 teenage children, Makiya and Damon. The Noonan's are a sports-loving family who are actively involved in the community through sports and numerous volunteer initiatives.

A graduate of the University of New Brunswick, with post-graduate training from St. Mary's University in Halifax, and a scholarship recipient from McGill-HEC's Executive MBA program in Montreal, Craig is "passionate about leadership and creating a culture in which team members feel engaged, supported, and appreciated".

Formerly the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Evangeline-Central Credit Union, Craig currently serves as the Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) of the newly formed Provincial Credit Union. As a member of the executive team, he played a key role in leading and supporting staff and management through the largest merger in the history of Credit Unions in Atlantic Canada.

In addition to his time in the Atlantic Credit Union system, Craig's previous work experiences, education, and service on various boards and committees have provided him a wealth of knowledge and a diverse set of skills over a variety of areas. He brings more than 15 years of senior management experience, including a decade of strategic development and plan execution. Craig has well-rounded expertise in coaching, consulting, business development, sales, marketing, human resources, governance, risk management, and operations – all of which will serve as an asset in his role as CEO.

"I am very excited to join the team at PEI Mutual," said Craig Noonan. "As someone who believes strongly in the organization's values of putting people first, delivering exceptional service and positively impacting our community, this position aligns directly with who I am and everything I stand for. This is a tremendous opportunity to impact our island, and it would be my honor to serve in helping bring the organization forward while building on the history and long-standing traditions that have helped to establish PEI Mutual as one of PEI & Atlantic Canada's most trusted and well-respected companies. "

"Craig is the right leader for PEI Mutual. Our Board is confident that his extensive background as well as his people-focused approach to leadership and building a positive culture will help our team to succeed, strengthen our existing partnerships, provide opportunities to develop new strategic alliances, and empower us to deliver an even greater impact on our Island communities. We believe his experience in innovation and change management will help focus PEI Mutual during the next phase of its evolution, and position him for success in leading the organization and team members through a period of continued growth and transformation."

The Board would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Rudy Smith, who has been serving in the capacity as CFO and Interim CEO since November of 2021. Rudy has been an exceptional support to the Board and staff as well as a tremendous asset to the organization, not only during the past 7-months, but throughout his 21-year career at PEI Mutual. He has exhibited tremendous dedication, diligence, and consistently exceptional leadership, and we would like to recognize his efforts, with gratitude. Upon Craig's arrival, Rudy will resume in his role as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and will continue to be an integral part of the organization's leadership, working alongside of Craig and other members of the executive team.
