What you'll do:
  • Provide advice to member policyholders and colleagues on our insurance products including:
    • Farm, Residential, Commercial, and Fishing
  • Continuous research, development, and portfolio reviews on our insurance products
  • Perform risk analysis using technology and underwriting guidelines for the purposes of quoting and authorizing the acceptance of risk
  • Review quotes, underwrite new business, renewals, endorsements and cancellations for all aspects of our insurance products
  • Act as subject matter expert for insurance policies, processes, and regulations
  • Communicate decisions and respond to requests in a prompt and professional manner
  • Foster positive working relationships with internal and external parties
  • Handle other general insurance inquiries from members and colleagues
About you:
  • Excellent customer service, time management, and multi-tasking skills
  • Positive ambitious attitude, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Agile with an ability to excel in a fast-paced environment managing multiple files
  • Strong decision-making skills, great attention to detail and the ability to carefully review comprehensive information

  • Arrange policy communication and changes to insurance policies
  • Support the workflow with various checks and balances ensuring accuracy in processes

  • Greet members in a pleasant and professional manner
  • Answer policyholder and agent inquiries
  • Redirect calls and send accurate messages to co-workers, agents, and adjusters
  • Accept and process payments
  • Check and respond to emails
  • Prepare and mail letters, invoices, and renewals
  • Maintain electronic and hard copy filing system
  • Restock various forms, applications, and supplies
  • Various other general administrative functions related to the insurance industry

What you'll do:

As Accounting Technician, you'll join PEI Mutual?s Accounting Team where you'll be part of the following functions:
  • Maintain accounts receivable and process invoices for payment
  • Record business transactions, process adjustments, and reconcile accounts
  • Ensure all mid-period and month-end financial duties are completed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Calculate and submit weekly payroll (payroll experience required)
  • Complete tax remittance forms such as payroll source deductions and T4's
  • Assist with year-end working papers and spreadsheets
  • Other general accounting functions specific to the insurance industry, as required
About you:
  • An Accounting diploma or equivalent accounting work experience
  • Minimum 3 year's experience in an accounting role
  • An understanding of accounting principles
  • Highly organized with the ability to maintain a very high level of confidentiality
  • Excellent working knowledge and experience with Excel spreadsheets
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work well independently and on a team
  • Detail-oriented and proficient in managing deadlines and workflow
  • A high degree of proficiency with software applications and information technology
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A high standard of ethical and professional behavior
