Position Overview: Reporting to the Claims Manager and serving as a member of the Claims Team, this position provides the opportunity to assess and settle claims in a fair and efficient manner. The successful candidate will primarily serve our policyholders in the Eastern portion of PEI, identified in the map below.

What you'll do:
  • Provide a consistently high level of service to our members
  • Investigate, evaluate, analyze, negotiate, and deliver consistent, fair and prompt settlement of claims
  • Evaluate coverages to determine claimable loss or damage
  • Prepare and maintain accurate reports and effective settlements
  • Adjust both property damage and legal liability claims
  • Recommend and maintain proper reserves
  • Consult and coordinate with experts such as lawyers, engineers, architects, and contractors
  • Keep current on industry trends, and best practices

Salary Range: $62,000 - $76,000 annually, depending on skills and years of experience.

Summer Student Administrative Support Clerk Position

Are you a college or university student looking for full-time summer employment to earn some extra cash, while expanding your skills and experience?

PEI Mutual Insurance Company, PEI's largest property and casualty insurer, has a full-time administrative support summer position available, for a post secondary student at its head office location in Summerside, PEI.

Job Description:
As part of our Records Department, you will provide a wide range of administrative and office support duties for various departments in the operation. Job tasks will include:

  • prepare and process outgoing mail
  • maintain electronic and hard copy filing system
  • process credit card payments
  • restock various forms, applications, and supplies
  • answer member inquiries and transfer inbound phone calls
  • other general administrative functions specific to the insurance industry, and in other departments, as required.
Qualifications for Applicants:
  • A post secondary student who is returning to studies in the fall and available for work beginning early May
  • Responsible with excellent customer service skills
  • Positive attitude with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidential, professional, and great attention to detail
  • Team-oriented, highly motivated, and reliable
This is a 17-week position with a start date of Monday, May 1, 2023, ending Friday, August 25, 2023. Student rate of pay is $18.00-$19.50/hour.
